In Water at Rest, William Jones captures the quiet beauty and subtle complexity of still water. For the artist, Water at Rest represents both a completed work and the beginning of a deeper exploration. It was the first painting in an ongoing series dedicated to understanding water as a subject, laying the foundation for many future works inspired by rivers, lakes, oceans, and reflective surfaces. Through this study, Jones discovered a lifelong fascination with the challenge of capturing water’s fluid nature and emotional resonance.
