After the Rain

By Roberta Farrelly
Acrylic on Canvas

Quiet, reflective, and richly atmospheric, After the Rain captures the fleeting beauty of a city transformed by a passing shower. Acclaimed Peachland artist and instructor Roberta Farrelly masterfully portrays a tranquil urban streetscape where glistening pavement, soft lamplight, and autumn foliage combine to create a scene filled with warmth, mood, and quiet contemplation.

The rain-washed street stretches into the distance, drawing the viewer through a world of shimmering reflections and subtle light. Illuminated storefronts, glowing street lamps, and colourful autumn leaves create a striking contrast against the cool tones of the evening sky. The absence of crowds allows the city to reveal a more intimate side—one of stillness, reflection, and timeless beauty.

Farrelly's remarkable attention to light and atmosphere transforms an everyday moment into something extraordinary. The reflective surfaces mirror the surrounding architecture and trees, creating depth and movement while evoking memories of peaceful evening walks after the rain. The painting invites viewers to slow down, appreciate the quiet moments, and find beauty in the simple elegance of a city at rest.

Both sophisticated and inviting, After the Rain is a celebration of light, reflection, and the enduring charm of urban life. It brings a sense of calm, warmth, and refinement to any space, making it a captivating addition to any collection.
