Artists Statement
 
There are places in the wilderness where time seems to become quiet... really quiet  Places where the land quietly reminds us that we are part of something far older and far greater than ourselves.
 
For me, the bison has always represented more than resilience.
 
It represents courage. Not the loud, fearless kind. The quiet courage to keep moving forward. To endure. To begin again. To stand firm when life asks everything of us.
 
When I painted The Guardian, I wasn't trying to create a portrait of a bison. I was searching for a presence. There were seasons in my own life when I needed reminding that strength isn't found in never falling. It is found in rising again.
 
Somewhere along the way, this painting became more than a piece of art.
 
It became a quiet companion. 1 A reminder that courage often stands silently beside us, waiting for us to remember it. The wilderness has never forgotten who we are. Sometimes we simply need to return long enough to remember.
 
The Guardian is my invitation to stand still, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the quiet strength that has always been within you. Because sometimes the greatest guardians we encounter are the ones that awaken something we've nearly forgotten within ourselves
