Swan Song

Original hand-carved Orca Marble
by Kent Laforme

Graceful, timeless, and quietly powerful, Swan Song captures a fleeting moment of elegance in stone. Hand-carved from rare Orca marble sourced in British Columbia, Kent Laforme transforms one of nature's most dramatic materials into a sculpture that feels remarkably light and alive. The flowing form suggests the gentle curve of a swan's neck and folded wings, while the striking black-and-white veining becomes an integral part of the composition, echoing feathers, water, and movement without a single unnecessary detail.

Every surface has been thoughtfully shaped to balance softness with precision. From one angle the sculpture appears serene and contemplative; from another it reveals bold sweeping lines that give it a sense of quiet motion. The natural patterns within the marble ensure that no two views are ever quite the same, inviting viewers to walk around the piece and experience its changing character from every perspective.

Carved entirely by hand, Swan Song celebrates the harmony between the artist and the stone. Rather than imposing form upon the marble, Laforme allows its unique geological history to guide the sculpture, creating a work that feels both contemporary and timeless. It is a striking statement piece that commands attention while maintaining a sense of calm sophistication.

Whether displayed in a private collection, a luxury residence, or the foyer of a fine gallery or boutique hotel, Swan Song offers an enduring presence that elevates its surroundings through exceptional craftsmanship and natural beauty.
