Lotus Pod
Original Hand-Carved Marble Sculpture
by Kent Laforme
Sold to a Private Collection
Elegant, organic, and deeply connected to the natural world, Lotus Pod celebrates the quiet perfection found in nature's design. Hand-carved from marble by acclaimed Canadian sculptor Kent Laforme, the sculpture captures the timeless form of a lotus seed pod, transforming this symbol of growth and renewal into a monumental work of enduring beauty.
Each sculpted petal rises with graceful precision, wrapping gently around the form to create a rhythm of light and shadow that changes throughout the day. Although carved from solid stone, the sculpture possesses a remarkable softness, its flowing surfaces suggesting the delicate unfolding of a living plant. The repetition of the petals creates both harmony and movement, drawing the eye upward in a natural, meditative progression.
For centuries, the lotus has symbolized resilience, transformation, and new beginnings. Emerging from still waters to bloom with extraordinary beauty, it reminds us that strength and grace often arise from the most unexpected places. In Lotus Pod, Laforme distills these ideas into a refined sculptural form that feels both contemporary and timeless, inviting moments of reflection and quiet contemplation.
Designed for outdoor installation, the sculpture interacts beautifully with its surroundings. Whether nestled among gardens, beside water, or standing within a natural landscape, Lotus Pod becomes part of its environment, changing with the seasons and the shifting qualities of natural light. Its simplicity allows the beauty of both the marble and the landscape to enhance one another.
Now residing in a private collection, Lotus Pod is a striking example of Kent Laforme's ability to draw inspiration from nature and transform it into sculpture of lasting significance. Through exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtful design, the work embodies harmony, renewal, and the enduring elegance found in the natural world.
