Soft evening light settles across the still waters of Harper Lake as the surrounding forest reflects in quiet harmony. Painted on location, Lily's Light captures a fleeting moment of peace, inviting the viewer to pause, breathe deeply, and rediscover the quiet beauty that so often surrounds us.
 
Artists Statement
 
Some of the most meaningful places in our lives are the ones we never planned to find. Harper Lake was one of those places. That day's destination was decided with the flip of a coin. What I discovered was far greater than a place on a map. It was an afternoon of changing light, quiet water, laughter, and my beloved wolfdog, Kayah, happily doing wolfdog things. Sitting along the shoreline, I painted the scene as it unfolded before me. The light shifted across the lake. The breeze moved through the trees. Kayah explored every corner of the shoreline with endless curiosity, reminding me that the wild was never meant to be tidy or controlled.
 
It wasn't a perfect afternoon, but it was a real one. As I painted, I realized the wild wasn't asking me to search for extraordinary experiences. It was inviting me to notice the ordinary ones more deeply.
 
Looking back, I don't remember every brushstroke. I remember how it felt to be there.
 
That afternoon reminded me that a meaningful life isn't built only from grand adventures.
 
It is built from countless imperfect moments that become extraordinary simply because we were fully present for them. Lily's Light is my invitation to slow down, embrace the tiny delights, and remember that the wild was never asking me for perfection.
 
Sometimes it simply asks us to be here.
