In Light to Home, William Jones presents a quiet and deeply personal reflection on belonging, identity, and the enduring pull of home. Along a forest path, Crow pauses before a warmly illuminated cottage tucked within an enchanted woodland. The glowing lantern hanging beside the doorway acts as a guiding beacon, symbolizing comfort, memory, and the reassurance that no matter how far one journeys, there is always a place waiting to welcome them back.
 
Throughout many Indigenous and Celtic traditions, Crow is recognized as a messenger, teacher, and keeper of knowledge. In this work, Crow appears as a curious traveler, venturing into the world in search of stories, wisdom, and experience. Yet even as he explores distant places, he ensures that a light remains burning—a symbol of connection to home, family, and community. The illuminated doorway becomes a metaphor for the people and places that sustain us, offering refuge, understanding, and belonging.
 
For the artist, Crow carries both personal and cultural significance. As a member of the Crow Clan of the Southern Tutchone people, William Jones sees Crow as an ancestral guide whose presence reflects themes of heritage, identity, and responsibility. Through this intimate narrative, the artist explores the balance between adventure and rootedness, reminding us that growth often comes through exploration, while strength is found in knowing where we belong.
