Keeper of the Waters is a powerful exploration of creation, stewardship, and the sacred relationship between humanity and the natural world. Rendered in Johnny Mukwa’s distinctive Woodland style, the work presents a shaman-like figure seamlessly intertwined with a heron, symbolizing the unity of spirit, knowledge, and the life-giving waters that sustain all living beings.
 
Seated in quiet contemplation, the figure holds a brush poised in the act of creation, painting a fish into existence before a brilliant red sun.
