Northern Serenade

Acrylic on Canvas
by Wayne Stewart

With wings spread wide and head lifted toward the sky, Northern Serenade captures one of Canada’s most iconic wilderness moments—the haunting call of the loon echoing across a quiet northern lake. Wayne Stewart masterfully portrays the bird’s elegance and spirit, combining rich blues, reflective waters, and vibrant shoreline colors to create a scene that feels both peaceful and alive.

The dramatic posture of the loon suggests a timeless ritual of communication, courtship, and connection, while the tranquil lake and surrounding forest evoke the untouched beauty of the Canadian wilderness. Stewart’s expressive brushwork and attention to detail bring movement and emotion to the composition, inviting viewers to pause and listen to the silent song carried across the water.

A celebration of nature, solitude, and the enduring spirit of the wild, Northern Serenade is a captivating addition to any collection and a beautiful tribute to one of Canada's most beloved symbols.
