All Grown Up
By Daniel Dearborn
Acrylic on Canvas
60″ × 40″
Inspired by the breathtaking forests of British Columbia’s West Coast, All Grown Up reflects Daniel Dearborn’s deep appreciation for trees and the essential role they play in our natural world. Rather than presenting the forest from a distance, Dearborn brings the viewer close—revealing the character, strength and intricate beauty of a mature tree.
A great moss-covered limb stretches across the composition, its textured bark, twisting branches and trailing lichen carrying the visible marks of time. It feels ancient and enduring, shaped by years of changing seasons yet remaining deeply connected to the living forest around it.
Behind the tree, a luminous field of gold, amber, green and flashes of blue creates the impression of sunlight filtering through a dense canopy. Loose lines, layered colour and expressive brushwork fill the painting with movement, suggesting wind through the branches and the constant, quiet energy of the forest.
The title All Grown Up carries both warmth and meaning. It speaks to maturity, resilience and the long journey from fragile seedling to towering presence. The tree becomes more than part of the landscape—it stands as a living witness to time, a provider of shelter and a vital part of the environmental balance upon which all life depends.
Through this work, Dearborn celebrates not only the visual beauty of trees but also their profound importance within our world. The painting gently reminds us that forests deserve our admiration, respect and protection, preserving these remarkable natural landscapes for generations yet to come.
At 60″ × 40″, All Grown Up has a commanding horizontal presence. Its vibrant palette, richly textured subject and contemporary composition make it an exceptional statement piece for a spacious home, executive office, hotel, restaurant or modern gathering space.
